DAMAX Solutions evaluated the impact of Social and Behavior Change (SBC) campaigns under the USAID-funded Tulonge Afya project (2017–2022), led by FHI 360 in Tanzania. The assessment focused on two SBC platforms—SITETEREKI (youth) and NAWEZA (adults)—and one campaign, FURAHA YANGU (HIV/TB).

Using a mix of probability and non-probability sampling, the evaluation covered 19 regions. Probability sampling involved multistage cluster selection of districts (enhanced and non-enhanced), wards (implementation and non-implementation), villages/streets, and households. Non-probability sampling was applied in selected regions, while purposive sampling guided regional selection.

The Tulonge Afya project operated integrated SBC campaigns across five key health areas: family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH), HIV, malaria, maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), and tuberculosis. The campaigns leveraged radio and social media as key communication channels to influence behavior change.

This evaluation provided critical insights into the effectiveness of SBC interventions in shaping prioritized behaviors and behavior determinants, informing future public health strategies.
