TdH-NL engaged DAMAX Solutions to evaluate the effectiveness of a project aimed at addressing child trafficking for domestic labor in Mwanza. The project sought to reduce child trafficking and unsafe migration by increasing awareness among children, families, communities, and the private sector across five districts of the Mwanza region. Additionally, the project strengthened child-friendly referral and protection services for victims and enhanced the capacity of law enforcers to investigate and prosecute child trafficking cases.
The baseline evaluation employed a cross-sectional mixed-methods approach, integrating both quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques. Quantitatively, structured interviews were conducted using questionnaires with 165 caretakers and 225 children who were either vulnerable to or had experienced child trafficking and unsafe migration for domestic labor.
Qualitatively, data was gathered through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), and In-Depth Interviews (IDIs). These methods engaged law enforcers, project implementers, government officials, and beneficiaries across the five districts of Mwanza, providing comprehensive insights into the project's impact and areas for improvement.
