DAMAX was contracted to conduct a baseline study in Tarime District, Mara Region, to assess the situation of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Child Marriage (CM), and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) among girls and children with disabilities. The study also examined the level of awareness regarding disabilities within the community.

The evaluation aimed to identify gaps in existing laws and policies related to children with disabilities, as well as assess the structures and systems in place to protect them. This study provided valuable benchmarks for measuring changes resulting from project interventions and achievements, and it will inform lobbying, advocacy, and systems-strengthening efforts.

The evaluation was conducted in five wards of Tarime District: Gorong’a, Kwihancha, Matongo, Nkende, and Nyamwigula. During data collection, DAMAX reached 257 caregivers and 268 children, gathering critical insights to support the project’s objectives.
