Research and Assessments

DAMAX conducted an external final evaluation to independently verify results achieved at various levels of the project’s logical framework including outputs, outcomes and impact; and assess changes from baseline for a discrete number of indicators tracked by the program.

Further, the final evaluation aimed to conduct a detailed and critical analysis of the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, gender sensitivity, impact, sustainability and scalability of project interventions, as well as provide evidenced documentation of lessons learned and best practices to inform recommendations for future programming.

DAMAX implemented a cross-sectional mixed-methods study in randomly selected six wards in Kilombero district representing the intervention site and control site. The evaluation conducted a semi-structured interview with 445 beneficiaries in project sites, 62 in non-project sites, focus group discussions each with facility-based and community health workers, and in-depth interviews with representatives from local government authority and Plan local staff.

Beneficiaries for the study included women who had been previously pregnant in the past two years residing in project areas and male/female primary caretakers for children under the age of five years old.
