DAMAX was contracted by WaterAid to conduct a nationwide assessment of the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) financing situation in healthcare facilities across Tanzania.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the President's Office - Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG), we developed comprehensive protocols and data collection methodologies tailored to address the unique challenges of WASH financing in the healthcare sector.
This study deployed a team of experienced health service providers and selected members of Council Health Management Teams (CHMTs), ensuring the use of local expertise and knowledge. Covering 225 healthcare facilities across the country, the assessment provided critical insights into the current state of WASH financing, forming the foundation for evidence-based planning and policy formulation to improve health outcomes and service delivery.
